Data deletion
Last updated 5 September 2026
This page describes how data is deleted from Vuun Connector, whether you are a customer closing your account, a customer erasing one contact, or a person whose data a customer holds. It complements the privacy policy, which says how long data is kept when nobody asks.
1. Closing your workspace
A workspace owner closes the workspace from Settings → Danger zone → Close workspace in the panel. From that moment:
- The subscription is cancelled and no further fees are charged.
- Our application is unsubscribed from your WhatsApp Business account and your access token is deleted from our vault. Your phone number is not deregistered: it is yours and you can use it elsewhere at once.
- API keys are revoked and webhook endpoints are paused.
- For 30 days the workspace stays open in read-only mode so you can obtain an export of your messages, contacts, templates and usage as CSV or JSON, and see your invoices. Asking us to reopen it within those 30 days restores it, with the WhatsApp connection made again through Embedded Signup.
- On day 30 all workspace data — messages, contacts, templates, webhook records, keys, members and settings — is permanently deleted, together with stored media and the vault references. The workspace drops out of our encrypted backups within a further 30 days, as they expire.
- The owner receives an e-mail when deletion is complete. The workspace's audit log is kept for two years in anonymised form, with no personal data in it.
What we keep afterwards: the anonymised audit log, and the invoices and accounting records the law requires us to hold for six years. Nothing else.
2. Erasing a single contact
To erase one person from your workspace — because they asked you to, or for any other reason — ask us, as described in section 3, naming the phone number. Within 24 hours of confirming the request we delete every message sent to or received from that number and the records attached to it, and write a hashed note to your audit log so you can show the request was honoured. Two copies outlive that step and expire on the retention schedule rather than on request: the record of each webhook delivery that carried a message from that number, which expires with your plan's message window, or with its dead-letter window if we could not deliver it, and the raw notifications Meta sent us, which expire within 60 days.
3. Asking by e-mail
If you cannot use the panel, or you want something the paths above do not cover, write to [email protected] with the subject "Data deletion request" and tell us:
- the name of the workspace, and the e-mail address of an owner or admin;
- what you want deleted: the whole workspace, a contact, or specific data;
- anything we need to find it, such as a phone number or a date range.
We confirm the request with the workspace owner, carry it out within 30 days, and tell you when it is done.
4. If you are a customer of one of our customers
If you messaged a business on WhatsApp and that business uses Vuun Connector, the business is the controller of your data and the right place to send your request; it can ask us to erase you, and we do so within 24 hours of confirming the request. If you would rather write to us at [email protected], we will pass your request to the business, help it respond, and confirm to you when it has. Your messages also exist on your own device and on WhatsApp itself, which this page does not cover.
5. Deletion on the Meta side
Closing a workspace removes our application's subscription from your WhatsApp Business account and deletes the access token we held. Data that Meta holds about your account and your conversations is governed by your agreement with Meta and by the controls in Meta Business Manager, not by us.
